Sage Hill Soap Convention- 2012

Date: Friday, March 9, Lunch & X-block
Location: Town Square or Gym, TBD.
Purpose: to act as a soap manufacturing company and design, produce, and promote your own unique soap.
Rules:
Also makes the molds, and collaborates with packaging group.
Packaging- responsible for packaging soap that chemists create. Must convey
a clear, coherent message through the packaging in line with group theme.
Marketing- creates name, slogan, catch phrases, and creates persuasive promotional
materials. Also responsible for producing a 30-60 second promotional video available on
youtube.

Packaging- responsible for packaging soap that chemists create. Must convey
a clear, coherent message through the packaging in line with group theme.
Marketing- creates name, slogan, catch phrases, and creates persuasive promotional
materials. Also responsible for producing a 30-60 second promotional video available on

- Teams must keep a daily, dated notebook that includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Table of contents
- Materials, methods, and results of all soap batches
- Receipts from all expenditures
- Notes from all brainstorming sessions
- Teams are limited to $50 in total expenditures for the entire project. The science department will provide NaOH, Fatty Acids, and Equipment to make the soap as well as tables/chairs for the display booth.
- All teams must produce a minimum of 10 bars of soap for their final product.
- Teams must create a web page as part of www.sagesoap2012.weebly.com. This web page must include:
- Description of the groups theme
- Picture and job title of each group member
- A 30-60 second embedded commercial
- Pictures and descriptions of all soap
- Students will be assessed on their project in a variety of ways that may include, but is not limited to: Homework, Projects, Class Participation, Quizzes, Tests, and Labs.
- During the convention, groups will compete for the “Best Soap” by promoting their product to judges during Lunch and X-Period on Friday, March 9.
- All team members are expected to abide by the Sage Hill Honor Code.
- Special seminars will be hosted by faculty and staff on a variety of topics that may include Marketing, Product Design, Video Creation and Editing, Web Design, and/or Promotional Material design. Attendance at these seminars is strongly encouraged, but is not required.
